Hi,
I was at dp this afternoon and met some new and old dog friends. Doug, human to Bam-Bam, the English Bull Dog wonder was there with Bam-meister's rubber rings. Doug uses the rings to suspend Bam Bam swinging him around in circles. This is amazing because Bam Bam is about 50 pounds. Good exercize, eh Doug?
Shadow...let me count the ways...to say what a lover dog. Shadow is a 4 year old Black Belgium Sheep Dog. Pure bred. He was adopted, so to speak, from a breeder in Ohio when he (the dog, not the breeder) was two years old. Shadow had been returned to the breeder by the first owner because, among other things, he was not potty trained. He must have lived outside most or all of the time. His lucky new humans have completely spoiled this little lover. He has a long black coat and is a real sweetheart. He leans into a person who is willing.
Also, making an appearance today at our dog stage were the packies named Beau and Frances Timothy. "Frank" is a pomeranian pooch who looked like a cat at first glance. He is orange and pretty. His human carried him into the park and I thought, why are they bringing this kitty cat in here? Well, Frank has quite a story. This little orange lover dog has three legs. He lost one of his back legs when a veterinarian left a forcep in his hip/leg during a surgery....and after. So, Frank lost a leg. He ended up at Animal Control and was taken to Anti-Cruelty. Fortunately, he was adopted by his new human. The human also adopted Beau Ransom..(partially named afte the human's mother). Beau is a Keeshun and mystery mix. What a doll he is. Fun and spunky and looks like a furry ball of energy. Two lucky dogs...
I am always amazed at the stories I hear at dp about both dogs and humans. How these beautiful critters can be mistreated nauseates me. But, I am happy that they get adopted by dp people. Most dogs at dp are rescued and other bought from breeders. I once saw the two cutest dogs at dp. I am not sure of their breeds: one was a tiny long haired daschund mix with a chuaua(sp??) the other was a petite little long haired something. The owners bought these two pups at what was Let's Pet, which is now, Dogs R Us. I asked where the owner thought these dogs came from. She said it was ok, because Let's Pet said they used breeders. And, it was further ok, because the owner was a member of PEETA...(PETA), you know, whatever. Duh!
But summer at dp is sweet and sunny. The temperature and humidity were perfect today. These are the days that make Chicago in the winter bearable. Is anyone reading this who is willing to do photography for this blog?? If so, let me know with a comment.
That's all she wrote. Roe
