I supposed wet weather is not for the faint hearted in dog land. The dogs don't seem to mind. I suppose that always living in the present and not really having self-consciousness is a blessing that dogs enjoy. Although, I once had a 100 pound female golden named, Abby, who came from the Anti-Cruelty who got embarrassed if you watched her curve her back and drop a "dog log". I once gave her a bit of a mouth wash because she had doggie bad breath, and she did not forgive me for 2 days. But she always forgave me...as they all forgive us. Abby and I were once walking down Lincoln Ave., near the intersection of Wellington. A fellow who seemed to hang around the neighborhood who was clearly developmentally challenged came up to Abby. She was very confused because she intuitively understood that the man was not in tune with how to behave with a dog. He wasn't unkind, just overly enthusiastic and Abby was confused by him and got a quizical look on the pretty face. Abby once saved me from a mugging by giving me the face of distress when two men seemed to be closing in on me on the street around 11 PM one night. She was a doll....a five foot long doll. I always felt that an aircraft carrier was walking by my side. So, like I said, they rescue us.
Many new puppy faces in puppy season. Two german shepards under 5 months both with Hispanic names...Paco and Chico...different owners of two great dogs. Then Sherman (as in Sherman tank) a daschund was taking on a little black french bulldog pup. They rolled around bringing laughter to all who voyeured. So, unself-conscious....what a gift. "Tis a gift to be simple..."
They say that dogs have the intelligence of a two year old child (with the exception of Aussies, Border Collies, Poodles and I am sure I am leaving out some brilliant calculous calculating dogs somewhere). But, such is life.
I hear that people are actually reading this. Please feel free to comment or just let us know that you are looking at this blog.
I am getting my camera up to snuff. Just got to find the thingy that connects it to the computer so we can have visuals on our dog children.
How do the dog walkers fit into the mix? The professional dog walkers are always at dog park, even on rainy days. It is not optional for them. One is a former Madison Ave Ad Executive who dropped out and feels much happier for the flight from Mad-Ad Hell. Dogs do not care about market shares. Most ad exec, actually, do not care either. This society, or perhaps, society in general, makes us all whores to climbing the ladder of prestige, money...or whatever floats your boat.
So, for now that is all she wrote. Roe
