Hello Dog Lovers,
I have been coming to dog park...both Hamline and Wiggly Fields for a number of years. But, today was the most chaotic of all days. It was the Day of Days, so to speak. The Usual Suspects and their humans were present: Ollie, Angus, BoBo, Murphy, Jordan, Lizzie, and a new guy dog named Gaius (more later on him), but something about the mix today led to chaos and barking like I have never heard there before. It made the passing trains unhearable. Yeah. Someone commented that there must be a full moon tonight, because the animules were acting in a fiend-ish, (although no biting ensued) way. It was so peculiar. To be sure, everyone was on top of dog behavior, which is great, but every human was a bit puzzled. I know I was. It could be that Angus had the big yellow ball toy and would not give it up. So, what else is new? That is to be expected. Henry the pup English Bull dog was quite happy to just be there are run as fast as his little legs would propel him...and at time, surprisingly, it was PDQ.
Well, the doggies were taking a TNS attitude toward each other today and being vocal to the point of giving humans headaches. Our pooches were in rare form. Hopefully, they have gotten it out of their collective system and it will be reasonably quiet tomorrow. Please feel to comment or just add your two cents, or two sents.
Gaius, whose named after the well known dude, Gaius Julius Caesar of Roman Empire days. He is an American Bull Dog and is a 16 month old dog bought from a breeder. He carries himself with a fierce dignity. Perhaps, that is why the other dogs were a bit crazed today. Gaius lives up to his name as an Alpha...new pack member of great stature could be the changing of the pack balance and hence the uproar. We shall see. But, Gaius, will fit in as they all do, when the pack understands that he is "da Man".
Other dogs making an appearance this afternoon will make their cyber appearances soon. So, if your dog was there today, bring he/she again and they will get their due online.
Today's New York Times had a full page ad about the Humane Society of America. Did you know that the HSA gives only 1% of its collected funds to local shelters? This is a big issue. So, if you feel like donating, do it locally.
There are certain unwritten rules about dog park. I was reminded today by a human that dating from dog park is a no-no. Dog park is a place for the humans to de-compress from the madness of modern urban bs. Flirting is definitely going on, but dating, it is the general opinion, is verboten.
That's all she wrote. Roe
