PAVE PARADISE-PUT UP A BARKING LOT...

Hello,

I was driving through the city today when I heard on the radio, "Pave Paradise, Put Up a Parking Lot". This was written and originally song by our Canadian friend, Joni Mitchell who was an item with Neil Young and Bob Dylan. It must have been inspirational. She may have been with Steven Stills, too. Oh well, you had to be there...it was the 60's.

That song made me think of what is happening that our park is not being paved...it is our urban version of paradise, though the EL is a bit much. It is probably ruining our collective hearing.

Paradise...I had thoughts about that today. One unquestionable place that is paradise on earth is: Iguacu Falls. Never heard of it...neither had I. It is at the junction of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. It is like the garden of Eden. I hope to go back one day. It is as close to the Garden of Eden as is possible on earth. The movie, "The Mission" (won Oscar in 1986..best picture) was filmed there and based on a true story of missionaries who thought it was paradise. Great music and actors: De Niro, Liam Neeson, Aiden Quinn. Oscar for music with Enrico Mariconi...spectacular.

Paradise...I look into the eyes of the dogs and sometimes I see the eyes of God looking back...speaking of Paradise. The heat has made dog park pretty unbearable for dogs for other than shorter periods of time. At least, the long haired dogs. My dog has been somewhat held captive to the air conditioner. She likes it. Remember this when you have not seen Kristen and Bruiser for three months because of the cold. Remember this when we are using our thingies that you buy at Walgreens to put into boots and mittens to keep warm. Chicago in summer can be paradise. I heard in the 1940's when there were heat waves, families would go down to the lakefront with blankets and would cool down with the lake breezes. It was very safe and comfortable. Paradise.

Did I ever tell you about the time I arrived in Rio with a Police Escort??? It is a true story and I decided that whenever I arrive in Rio, I insist on a Police Escort...sirens and the whole nine yards. If you find this intriguing...feel free to ask.
