Hello,
Today was filled with Isabelles...and one Isabella. All of these white or light cuties are in bull family. White Isabelle (Joseph's dog) is an American Bull Terrier. His mom human used to breed and show sharpei dogs. The things you find out. She says she likes the more aggressive breeds and when asked if that matched her personality, she agreed. Another Isabelle is a light sweet French Bull dog pup of 7 months. Even for seven months, she is quite petite. She runs like a rabbit: ears bouncing in the breeze. Watching her run form behind she seems to wiggle run. Quite cute. While I was driving to my office after dp, I saw two French Bull dog siblings: Francesca (black) and Isabella (white) dog siblings from the same litter. So, it is a "Tail of two Izzies", or "Three bull dog night"?
A dog name discussion which took place in the shade bench on the south side of the park sparked some light bulbs to go off in my brain. John states that the park: sun v shade was a two city thing. Dog names of interest led to a discussion of ludicrous names for children. La Brittany seemed to take the cake of an unusal name of foolishness....at least for today.
After the sun had retreated from part of the north end of dp bench, many of the usual suspects convened around the pool, interestingly, as did the dog for each human. Aengus (with an "E") was a bit of a barker today because he was not always getting the famous rubber ball, as he was wanted, and usually did, have. Another Angus showed up...I think it was a big Swiss mountain boy who currently weighs about 100 and is in late puppyhood. He looks a bit like a hereford cow...or perhaps, a Guernsy cow. I come from Upstate NY, people do not realize that the second largest industry in NY is dairy farming. Therefore, a farmer might say of a girl "chick" that she was a "sweet little heffer". So, Angus (no "E) was compared to a cow...and a sweet heffer at that.
A big English Bull dog named....can't remember, showed up at the end of the afternoon. His human was a wimpy and unauthoritative dog alpha. She freely and without awareness admitted that she had not given her dog obedience training. Since her dog was jumping up on people and a bit out of control, or as one person said, "that dog does not have good manners". That was polite.
I am thinking about what I want to say in the blog and what is the purpose, the narrative and the arc and conflict resolution. What is the conflict? The dp microcosm, like any cosm has conflict to resolve. Conflict can be measured in character and character can drive the actions and clarify the conflict. There are archtypes: tomboys, cheerleaders, people dedicated to an well trained in the training of animals and the neophytes who do not know that they do not know. There in lies many conflicts. The same might be said for the dogs. Yet, the dogs seem to handle the conflict and get over it. Why can't we?
That's all she wrote. Roe
