LONG TIME NO C...,
Hello Dog Park Packies,
Well, it has been and will be again, long time with no C..vitamin, that is. And, with the W word coming...it will probably be a long time again. Today, and this weekend was a gorgeous reprieve from the impending onslaught. I had a great time today and yesterday enjoying the weather and final wearing of summer duds.
Saw a lot of familiar faces. Watching the dogs is ever a learning lesson on patience, wisdom and knowledge...that they have to give to us. I saw a lady today, hysterically, screaming at her naughty dog, thereby, imposing her anxiety on the dogs and people at the park. It did not go unnoticed by some of the humans. Really, folks, anxiety is energy which can be inflicted on any being within energy range. Never under-estimate the power of projection of good, bad and anxiety. So, chill when you are commanding your dog, it will help, not only your dog, but the entire pack, as well. Remember, dog park is therapy for the dogs and we humans.
It was fun today to meet two huge Great, Great Danes. One is a three year old male from Georgia, named, Blue, since he is a Steel Blue Dane. Then he met his Dane match...Delia the female Dane pup of six months. A big boy Dane with a female Dane pup...instant love. Blue is a steel blue color and about 140 puny pounds...not. Delia was selected for her disposition because, eventually, she will be a therapy dog for disturbed children. You hear all kinds of stories at dog park. I had a friend whose family had adopted a Dane. They were having a Sunday roast beef that they put on the kitchen counter to set post roast. Guess who came to dinner...without an invite. The family had hamburgers for dinner that day.
Speaking of Long Time No C....it behooves we folks in northern climes to take our C whenever and where ever we can. I prefer a mid-winter vacation in the Caribean Sea (sp?)
to take in my C. One can also take vitamin pills. I think I am preparing for the Winter lack of sunshine. You can buy a simple plant grow light and place it in a reading lamp and read by it 20 minutes AM and 20 minutes PM to beat the winter blues...just a tip for the upcoming W word.
I hear that Mojo Rising had been feeling not too well. Being a senior dog can be challenging to dog and human. Wishing Mojo all the best for he and his master. It is hard to watch our dogs age. I know the feeling.
I was watching a Animal Planet National Dog Show...a spaniel, cocker, I think, was named
"The Dude"...not Dude, but "The Dude". We Lebowski Fest fanatics know who that was named after. It is good to know that some dog people revere the Hippie slacker, The Dude...even immortalized as a spaniel. I must say that it is a mixed marriage of Dude and spaniels... I could see a Dane named the Dude, or a Great Pyranees, or perhaps, a Berner...since they seem to be slackers and lovers. I hate the blanking Eagles, said The Dude. You had to be there. If you have not yet seen "The Big Lebowski", which was made by the Coen Brothers...I would marry both of them at the same time, who made this homage to a friend of theirs who was a hippie slacker who imbibed frequently with White Russians. It should be known, also, that The Dude, was an author the the first draft of the Port Huron
Statement, ( look it up on Wikipedia). The Dude made it clear that he had nothing to do with the "watered down, second draft of the Port Huron Statement, which was, lamentably, the final draft. What can you do. It this paragraph seems irrelevant to you, I do suggest that you look up the Port Huron Statement...read it and weep.
So, chomp down on your C's and buck up because winter is coming...yuck.
That's all she wrote. Roe
